CLIENT PROFILE

The client is a specialty chemical company that focuses on the production and distribution of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, gel coats, colorants, and putties for the composites and cast polymer industries.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

Our team developed the requirements for and executed an expansion to a plant that manufactures sheet molding products for the compression molding industry. The existing plant was land-locked by railroads and challenged by building code requirements while requiring additional raw material storage within a conditioned space to enable expanded production.

Scope of Services Provided

Our firm provided Project Management, Engineering services for the civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and process engineering for this 6300 SF building and the process equipment within it. We also provided Construction Administration services and otherwise supported the construction of the facility.

Results

The team developed a design which satisfied all the issues and provided the required raw material storage within an aggressive time frame.

The building was nestled between railroads immediately to the north and south of the property and abuts the existing manufacturing plant. It contains 14 separate storage tanks, mixing facilities, pumps and piping and required building services all within separate contained and/or enclosed spaces. Two silos and resin truck unloading facilities were constructed immediately adjacent to the building.
